BEFRIENDING NON-MUSLIMS

I think I can take few space to say few things regarding befriending Non-Muslim. I hv some reservation on it and for that I hv some Quranic support too.……………………………………..

The belief fairly common among both Muslims and non-Muslims that the Quran prohibits Muslims to befriend non-Muslims has arisen due to confusing a conditional Quranic advice not to befriend or trust the aggressive and unethical opponents of the Prophet with a permanent ban on friendly relations with non-Muslims.

The Quranic verses concerned are as follows:“Let not the believers take disbelievers for their friends in preference to believers. Whoso doeth that hath no connection with Allah unless (it be) that ye but guard yourselves against them, taking (as it were) security”..(3 :28)

“O ye who believel Choose not disbelievers for (your) friends in place of believers. Would ye give Allah a clear warrant against you?(4: 144)”

“O ye who believe! Take not the Jews and the Christians for friends. They are friends one to another. He among you who taketh them for friends is (one) of them. Lo! Allah guideth not wrongdoing folk.(5: 51)”Now the above verses, when read in isolation and without full knowledge of the historical situation or the background of their revelation, do lend themselves to the interpretation that has actually been placed upon them that the Quran bans friendly relations and mutual trust between Muslims and non-Muslims.…………………….

But if the verses are read carefully to determine their exact import, and if all the relevant verses (which are scattered at different places in the Quran) are examined in the historical context of their revelation, it becomes pretty clear that the anti-humanist interpretation of the Quranic verses in question in not justified.

Indeed, it can be said with full intellectual honesty that the Quranic texts encourage inter-religious tolerance and universal kindness, holding that religious or cultural plurality is part of God's plan and that God could have obliterated all differences, had He so wished. Consider the following verses of the Quran:

“It may be that Allah will ordain love between you and those of them with whom ye are at enmity. Allah is Mighty, and Allah is Forgiving, Merciful. Allah forbiddeth you not those who warred not against you on account of religion and drove you not out from your homes, that ye should show them kindness and deal justly with them. Lol Allah loveth the just dealers..Allah forbiddeth you only those who warred against you on account of religion and have driven you out from your homes and helped to drive you out, that ye make friends of them. Whosoever maketh friends of them—(all) such are wrong-doers. (60 :7-9)”

“They are not all alike. Of the people of the Scripture there is a staunch community who recite the revelations of Allah in the right season, falling prostrate (before Him). They believe in Allah and the Last Day, and enjoin right conduct and forbid indecency, and vie one with another in good works. They are of the righteous. And whatever good they do they will not be denied the meed thereof. Allah is aware of those who ward off (evil).(3: 113-115)”.…………………

“Lo! those who believe and those who are Jews, and Sabaeans, and Christians—whosoever believeth in Allah and the Last Day and doeth right—there shall no fear come upon them neither shall they grieve.(5: 69)”.

“O mankind, Lo! We have created you male and female and have made you nations and tribes that ye may know one and another. Lo! the noblest of you, in the sight of Allah, is the best in conduct. Lo! Allah is Knower, Aware.(49: 13)”

“And if thy Lord willed all who are in the earth would have believed together. Wouldst thou (Muhammad) compel men until they believe?(10 : 100)”.

.For each We have appointed a Divine Law and a traced out way. Had Allah willed He could have made you one community. But that He may try you by that which He hath given you (He hath made you as ye are) so vie one with another in good works. Unto Allah ye will all return, and He will then inform you of that wherein ye differ (5:48)”.

The back grounds of those verses regarding befriending were revealed when there were tensions among the communities. It was a state of war and unfortunately it was a religious battle. But at the same time many NonMuslim groups also joined and had pacts with Muslim forces in the wars like Bani Amir tribe.

Well in Chapter 2 verse 177 Allah said, “Righteousness is not that you turn your faces toward the east or the west, but [true] righteousness is [in] one who believes in Allah…”Now does it mean Allah doesn’t care how we bow our head at Kabah during salah? No its not like that. As I said before too much literal adherence at one or two verses can mislead people.

On the basis of is understanding, Muslims were asked not to make friendship with certain people who were engaged in war against them and drove them out of their houses..………………………..

Allah wants humans to come close to one another as a family. If there is any differentiation in the eyes of Allah it is on the basis of piety. Qur'an says: "O mankind! We created you from a single pair of a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes that you might get to know one another. Surely the noblest of you in the sight of God is he who is the most righteous. God is All-Knowledgeable, All-Aware." (49:13) It is on the basis of the high status Islam attaches to piety and Allah-consciousness even that Qur'an praises non-Muslims in several verses.

“Among the people of the Book (Jews and Christians) there are those who if you trust them with a treasure, will return it to you; and among them there are those who, if you trust them with a dinar, will not return it to you, unless you keep standing over them.” (3:75) “They are not all alike. Among the people of the Book there is a party who stand by their covenant; they recite the Word of God in the hours of night and prostrate themselves before Him. They believe in God and the Last Day, and enjoin good and forbid evil, and hasten to vie with one another in good works. And these are among the righteous.” (3:113)…

Actually those verses are for those who had enmity against the existing Muslim community at that time. Quran is a complete book and we cannot take any verse in isolation rather than understanding its contextual meaning. Allah created everyone and wot we need most is to try to correcting us continuously instead of searching loopholes of others. O yes when Allah is demanding and ordering us to INVITE PEOPLE…

We are asked to include everyone not to exclude. OMA!!! how are we sure tat we are still a Muslim after cheating, killing innocents, making chaos? Hey are you sure you are still a Muslim? Just become shhsssssssssss and keep praying to Allah to forgive us. Tauba tuaba tauba. Just concentrate at yourself and keep struggling to maintain Iman.DON’T JUDGEEEE OTHERS. THIS IS THE JOB OF ALLAH NOT OURS.OMA !!!!

“Invite (all) to the Way of your Rabb (Cherisher and Sustainer, Allah) with wisdom and beautiful preaching; and argue with them in ways that are best and most gracious: for your Rabb knows best, who have strayed from His Path, and who receive guidance.” (16:125).Then who the hell are we to brand someone kafir and nonmuslims?THERE ARE PROVES THAT NONMUSLIMS CAN BE MORE THAN A FRIEND TO A MUSLIM by allowing nonmuslims women to marry.

1. "This day are (all) things good and pure made lawful unto you. The food of the People of the Book [Jews and Christians] is lawful unto you and yours is lawful unto them. (Lawful unto you in marriage) are (not only) chaste women who are believers, but chaste women among the People of the Book, revealed before your time,- when ye give them their due dowers, and desire chastity, not lewdness, nor secret intrigues if any one rejects faith, fruitless is his work, and in the Hereafter he will be in the ranks of those who have lost (all spiritual good). (The Noble Quran, 5:5)"

2. Yes by endorsing many Jews and Christians are actually better in the Sight of Allah Almighty than some Muslims: "And there are, certainly, among the People of the Book [Jews and Christians], those who believe in God, in the revelation to you, and in the revelation to them, bowing in humility to God: They will not sell the Signs of God for a miserable gain! For them is a reward with their Lord, and God is swift in account. (The Noble Quran, 3:199)"

Yes and yes > “"Not all of them are alike: Of the People of the Book [Jews and Christians] are a portion that stand (For the right): They rehearse the Signs of God all night long, and they prostrate themselves in adoration. They believe in God and the Last Day; they enjoin what is right, and forbid what is wrong; and they hasten (in emulation) in (all) good works: They are in the ranks of the righteous. (The Noble Quran, 3:113-114)"

The above Noble Verses clearly speak about the righteous Jews and Christians who believe in Allah Almighty and do righteousness and will have their Great Reward and enter Paradise. Why would a Muslim be prohibited to form a personal friendship with these people from the Jews and Christians whom Allah Almighty loves dearly.

5. Yes a nonmuslim can be more than a friend . Abu Talib was not muslim but a great man to our prophet. He was nonmuslim but more than a friend to our prophet.………….6. Waraqa bin Nawfal was non Muslim but Prophet said “"Do not slander Waraka ibn Nawfal, for I have seen that he will have one or two gardens in Paradise." (Saheeh al-Jaami as-Sagheer, 6/1534, no. 7197).

SO YES YES THERE ARE MANY MANY MANY PROVES THAT NONMUSLIMS CAN BE MORE THAN A FRIEND.Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) had to fight and in every case he was defending he was not aggressor. Surely many people who were not ready to accept Islam and surely many people who accepted Islam and surely even who fought against Him accepted Islam by their choices. And surely there were non Muslims who gave Him shelter in Medina when another group of Mekkah tried to kill Him.Surely many nonmuslims became friends and many became enemies. Surely many Muslims fought against each other.…………………………..

Surely Hazrat Ali ( Rz) and Ayesha ® fought against each other. Surely many companions of prophet killed one another in wars.

Surely Hazrat Omar, Ali .Osman (R) were killed by another group of Muslims.………………….

Surely Umayyad, Abbasid, Fatimid, Ottoman Muslims kept killing each other. Surely Mughals kept killing each others.

Do you know Muslims were and still are killing themselves more than the non Muslims did ? Yes Muslims shaded their hands with the blood of their fellow Muslims more than non muslims did to them.

None of your comments are proving that Muslims are asked to befriend others. Stop this nonsense and learn. Cant you see Muslim countries are bleeding by the hands of another group of Muslims?
