Quran: On the surface of the Earth.

Surah Al-Baqara “Who has made the earth your couch, and the heavens your canopy; and sent down rain from the heavens; and brought forth therewith fruits for your sustenance; then set not up rivals unto Allah when ye know (the truth)” (2: 22)

Surah Al-Baqara "Who has made the earth a resting place for you, and the sky as a canopy, and sent down water (rain) from the sky and brought forth therewith fruits as a provision for you. Then do not set up rivals unto Allâh (in worship) while you know (that He Alone has the right to be worshipped)." (22)

We find the earth has made to comfort, and because of this flatness we can comfortably lie down on it and \ rest. The same idea has been expressed in verse 20:53 (Sara Taha) and in verse 43: l 0 (Sura Zukhruf): “Who has made for you the earth as a spread out carpet . These verses imply that the earth is for habitation not flat as the doubters try to say.

We know that the larger a sphere, the less is the curvature of its surface. The earth is an enormous sphere with a radius of about 6400 km. (about 4,000 miles) and in our daily life we deal with only a small portion of its surface ; this portion may be taken as flat for all practical purposes. The extent of curvature entailed in this portion is imperceptible; even a long distance of one mile on the surface of the earth will subtend (contain) at the centre of the earth an exceedingly small angle less than one-seventieth of a degree. In this context it cn be stated tat, mathematically a place surface cn be defined as the surface of a sphere whose radius tends to infinity.

Using the theorem of Pythagoras a2 = 39632 + 12 = 15705370 and thus a = 3963.000126 miles. Thus your position is 3963.000126 - 3963 = 0.000126 miles above the surface of the earth. 0.000126 miles = 12*5280*0.000126 = 7.98 inches.

Hence the earth's surface curves approximately 8 inches in one mile. This gradual curvature is not seen by a place we stay but to us where we stay seems flat and we can rest on the place.

The word rolleth or wrapped is taken from the word” kewarah”, ( وَيُكَوِّرُ) Kawara comes from kura , means some kind of round type of action and things.
